The honey soothes, the coconut oil offers antibacterial properties, and Thieves Young Living Essential Oil helps throat discomfort disappear!!!

Here’s what you need:

Here’s what you do:

  1. In a small saucepan, heat the honey on low heat until 300°F.  This is important because the drops won’t harden properly otherwise. BE CAREFUL not to heat the honey heat that is too high!!! The honey will burn very quickly!  Be careful because the honey will be VERY hot as well! (obviously)
  2. Remove honey from heat as soon as it reaches 300°F.
  3. Add in the coconut oil and the essential oil.  Stir to incorporate.
  4. Quickly, pour about 1/2 teaspoon of the mixture into the silicone mold.  The honey will begin to harden quickly! If you don’t have a mold, no problem! Just make small drops on waxed paper and the honey will harden the same.
  5. Allow the drops to cool, and they will harden!

Suck Away! Feel better! Enjoy!

  1. These are awesome! How long do they last? Can I make up a batch to have on hand for when I get sick cause I know when I am sick I’m not going to want to 🙁

    • Thanks for visiting, Katie! I am making a huge batch now as we speak! I am going to wrap them in parchment paper wrappers and put them into an airtight jar. I will sore them in the fridge for safe keeping, even though I would imagine they would last for a while since they will essentially be hard candy! Good luck! Let me know how yours turn out!

  2. I’ve been sick for almost 2 months…definitely going to try these! They look so easy to make, too. Thanks so much for sharing 🙂

  3. Just what we need this winter! I am so delighted that you shared your DIY Natural Throat Drops at the Healthy Happy Green and Natural Party! i’m pinning and sharing!Thank you so much for sharing your gems and for your support! All the best, Deborah

  4. I’ve read that honey changes its chemistry when heated like this & that it becomes toxic! Are they just trying to use scare tactics or is there something to it? I really want to make this for throat lozenges & with peppermint for mints but want to be safe. Please answer. 😊Thank you!

    • I did some research. The only information I found about ANY toxicity was from an Ayurvedic philosophy. The philosophy states that when heating honey over a certain temperature, it increases the amount of HMF (hydroxymethylfurfuraldehyde) which, in HUGE quantities, can be dangerous. There are so many different trains-of-thought, wives tails, and cultural beliefs that are so different out there that I have formulated my own personal conclusion. Everything in moderation is GOOD! Unless you are ingesting several bottles worth of boiled honey each day, I can’t see how there is much to worry about. In my personal opinion, I can’t see how honey throat drops can be any more harmful or dangerous than the large amounts of sugar, alcohol, or the combination of synthetic chemicals that so many people put into their bodies each day! I WILL CONTINUE TO EAT MY THROAT DROPS! 🙂

      • 😊Thank you! That’s the type of article I read & was a bit freaked out because I’ve switched to cooking a lot with honey & just wanted to make sure.

  5. Do you know if you can use candy molds? I have lots of small candy molds that would be the perfect size. All my silicone molds are way to big.

    • I don’t see any reason why not. I would only worry about the drops sticking. Maybe grease the molds lightly with coconut oil???? Let me know how they turn out! Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
