Back in the 80’s, I remember using some of my Aqua Net hairspray to remove the static from pieces of clothing. It did the job, but HOW GROSS WAS THAT?!?! Does that stuff even exist anymore? Thankfully, there is another highly effective, natural, more healthy way of removing static and static cling from clothing. You could go out and buy a really expensive, pocket-sized, commercial version filled with synthetic chemicals OR, you can spend pennies and less than 5 minutes to create your own. This DIY Natural Static Reducer Spray allows you to zap the static AWAY in seconds! It smells great too which is a bonus!

In the winter here in NY, the air is really dry and cold. The perfect recipe for some static cling. That means you get zapped every time you put on or take of your clothing. If that’s not enough, the clothing then clings to you making things uncomfortable or unsightly. Clingy skirts are the WORST! You truly won’t believe how easy this DIY Natural Static Reducer Spray is to make! Also, you will smell like you are wearing freshly laundered clothes too! 🙂 Spray away without putting harmful synthetic chemicals all over your body. You won’t have to breathe in nasty substances either. It’s a win-win situation!
Here’s what you need:
- 1 tablespoons of natural fabric softener ( I use THESE cruelty-free/ natural brands)
- 1 cup water
- 1 teaspoon rubbing alcohol (vodka works too) . This helps the solution disperse and dry on the clothing.
- spray bottles
- Young Living Essential Oils can be added to unscented fabric softeners or to enhance the scent of them. Pick your flavor!
Here’s what you do:
- Mix all ingredients in a spray bottle and shake well to incorporate.
Spray a few sprays on anything that has static cling! Works really well on fleeces, synthetic fabrics, and cottons.
